Camp Mason Weekend of Adventure!

[gallery]On the weekend of November 19 and 20th the Cub Scouts of Pack 119 visted Camp Mason for another ultimate adventure! The Cubs and family participants started off hiking in the woods to various team building exercises. Working with a camp leader as a guide, the cubs had to strategize to figure out how to resolve some complex issues. For instance, the cubs had to swing on a rope, across an imaginary stream of hot lava, to get to safety on an island on the other side of the stream. Team work was vital!

After the team building exercises and hiking, the cubs enjoyed a hot lunch at the 5 star cafeteria! Yum! Hamburgers, fries, and egg salad! After that, the cubs went out for another short hike and returned to the cafeteria to make pretzels! (Or, at least something with dough….). Then, the cubs tried flying through the air through the trees and then safely back to the ground secured only by ropes, counter weights and a sturdy harness! What a blast!

For dinner, the cubs enjoyed chicken fingers and egg salad! After dinner, the cubs headed to the cabins and prepared for a special Pack campfire! The cubs played Man Hunt and then settled down to watch a movie, but decided to play Man Hunt again until lights out! Meanwhile, the adults enjoyed the warmth of the campfire, entertained by the guitar picking fingers of Mr. Mike and Mr. Brian, and the incredible vocal talent of Mr. Dennis and the remarkable memory for lyrics of Mr. Joe. The adults enjoyed the event so much they stayed up until way past 2AM!!!!

The next morning, the Cubs and families assembled on the Big Green for a flag ceremony prior to breakfast. For breakfast, the camp served up hot pancakes, sausage, and every type of canned fruit you could imagine! If you did not like the selection, they also served cold cereal as well as oatmeal! (Did I mention this is a 5 star cafeteria?)

After breakfast, the cubs played a little basketball to loosen up and then it was off to the Great Wall for a climbing adventure! The cubs did their best to scale a wall over 40 feet high by holding on to rocks nailed to the surface! Afterwards, most of the adults gave it a try (and succeeded!)

Everyone had a great time and nobody really wanted to go back home….
